As an adult returning to school, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program allows you to demonstrate your professional experience and prior training to apply for admission to a master’s degree program. You must be able to demonstrate at least five years of experience related to your intended field of study to be considered for admission to a master’s program through RPL.

The VAE application is an integral part of your application.

Based on your VAE application, the admissions committee evaluates your qualifications:
• Is your application admissible? Do you have the required number of years of experience?
• Do you have the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue the program you’ve chosen?

Be sure to clearly describe your professional and personal experiences and relate them to the program you wish to enroll in.

Your application must be fully completed and submitted to the VAE office at the faculty where you wish to study.

Don’t forget to include all necessary supporting documents (copies of diplomas, employer statements, volunteer certificates, training certificates, certificates, documentation of a personal project, etc.).

The VAE application may vary from one faculty to another and even from one program to another, depending on the criteria used to assess your prior learning.
