The Matteo Ricci Space aims to be an iconic place of welcome, exchange, and support for the university's international community.

Its name pays tribute to Matteo Ricci (1552-1610), a Jesuit and humanist who pioneered intercultural dialogue between Europe and China. Like this scholar, who was able to forge links between knowledge and civilizations, this space is designed as a crossroads where students, researchers, and staff members in international mobility can meet, whether they are on exchange programs, expatriates, or refugees.

An integration and support hub

A university building dedicated to activities geared toward the international community would have several essential functions to meet the diverse needs of students and staff on the move, including refugees. Here are some of the functions that have been considered.

Reception and Orientation

  • A multilingual welcome center with advisors to help international students and staff integrate.
  • A support service for administrative procedures (visas, residence permits, social security, housing, etc.).
  • In addition to the one-stop shop: an interactive information platform about the city, the university, and the services available.

Living spaces and socialization

  • A lounge-style relaxation area that promotes cultural exchange.
  • Meeting and coworking rooms to encourage collaboration between students of different nationalities.
  • A space dedicated to international student associations and intercultural initiatives.
Séjour d'échange

Psychosocial support and integration

  • A psychological support service specializing in assisting international students and refugees.
  • An integration support office (mentoring, buddy program, discussion groups, workshops on local culture).
  • A space for raising awareness and providing training on issues related to exile and mobility.
Inclusif

Employment and professional integration

  • A support center for internships and employment (CV workshops, coaching, meetings with local employers).
  • Networking events with companies and institutions welcoming international profiles.
