Ce 10 mai 2025, la Vice-Rectrice Carine Michiels et la professeure Anne-Catherine Heuskin ont remis le chèque de l’UNamur lors de la grande soirée de clôture de l’opération Télévie qui a permis cette année de récolter un chiffre record de 13 351 977 € au profit du Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique. Les fonds Télévie sont intégralement destinés au financement de projets de recherche contre le cancer dans les universités en Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles et au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg.

Une délégation de l’Université de Namur a participé à une mission exploratoire à l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) de Dakar, au Sénégal. L’objectif : découvrir les recherches menées sur le terrain, rencontrer les chercheurs de l’UCAD et initier de futures collaborations entre les deux institutions.

Depuis une dizaine d’années, le professeur Guilhem Cassan travaille sur la question du lien entre médias et vie politique en collaboration avec la Professeure Julia Cagé, qui vient de recevoir le très prestigieux Prix Yrjö Jahnsson, qui consacre le meilleur économiste Européen de moins de 45 ans. Le Département d’économie de l'UNamur (Faculté EMCP) et l'Institut DeFiPP (Centre CRED) possèdent un réseau et une expertise internationale reconnue en économie du développement et en économie de l’environnement. 

Fondé il y a une cinquantaine d’années, le Laboratoire d'Analyse par Réactions Nucléaires (LARN) du Département de physique de l’Université de Namur abrite un accélérateur de particules tandem 2MV nommé ALTAÏS (Accélérateur Linéaire Tandetron pour l’Analyse et l’Implantation des Solides), en service depuis 1999.

Les statistiques s'attachent habituellement à anticiper les événements qui se trouvent dans la norme. Mais qu'en est-il des événements rares ? Ils sont traités par une branche des mathématiques, la théorie des valeurs extrêmes, dont Anna Kiriliouk, chargée de cours en statistiques à l'UNamur est une spécialiste. Appliquée au climat, cette théorie permet de mieux prévoir les événements climatiques extrêmes, alors que ces derniers se multiplient en raison du changement climatique.

Depuis septembre 2023, Marc Hennequart, professeur en biochimie et biologie cellulaire à l’UNamur, mène des recherches novatrices sur le cancer du pancréas. Son équipe, basée à la Faculté de médecine et à l’Institut Narilis, étudie les étapes précoces de l’oncogenèse (processus de transformation d’une cellule normale en une cellule cancéreuse) pour mieux comprendre les changements métaboliques à l’origine de ce cancer particulièrement agressif.
