Overview

In constantly changing social, economic, political, and even technological contexts, workers must develop new skills.

Coaching aims to support workers in the challenges they face (finding meaning, flexibility, creativity, etc.) and potential difficulties (psychosocial risks, workplace distress, etc.).

Many managers are, in fact, expected to take on this role without being prepared or trained in the art of coaching—with all the skills that this entails. This training program takes these realities into account and equips you with the necessary tools.

To meet this growing need, this specialized master’s program—drawing on Belgian and international resources—aims to provide trainers, team leaders, counselors, HR managers, and others with the training needed to support their teams and the professionals within them.

The Program

A 60-credit program structured around four main areas

  • The various components of the coaching approach

What is coaching, and what approaches does it involve? How does it vary depending on the context, and what tools should be used?

  • Organizational analysis and facilitating change within organizations

What approach should be adopted? Strategic? Cultural? Systemic? How can we support change, whether it is emerging or planned?

  • Analysis of Practices, Analysis of Work Activities, and Reflexivity

What approaches should be used to analyze work situations and support professional development?

  • Analysis of relational dimensions in support

What kind of relationship should we have with others and with ourselves? What role do emotions play in support? How can we foster group dynamics that promote collective intelligence?

The program includes a theoretical component (research contributions), a practical and strategic component (actions, approaches, and mechanisms), an ethical component, and an epistemological component.

An integration seminar (2 credits) guides students’ engagement with the course content throughout the year, drawing on real-world professional situations, and culminates in an international seminar bringing together students, faculty, and international experts.

The completion of a thesis (16 credits) provides an opportunity to explore in depth an issue related to counseling, whether in the form of a professional thesis or a research thesis. A research methodology course (2 credits) supports students in this endeavor.
