Preparatory Courses for Entrance Exams for Human Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

These sessions are open to everyone, but are intended in particular for students who have chosen a general science track in high school. They provide valuable assistance in preparing for the various subjects included in the entrance exam curriculum, but require a genuine personal commitment.

The Winter Session 

This session aims to review all science subjects—mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology—and to prepare students for the “Communication and Critical Analysis of Information” section.  It is also designed to help you master the specific techniques required for the multiple-choice test used in this exam. The classes are structured in two parts.  First, a review of the theoretical concepts you’ll have been asked to review the week before the session, followed by numerous MCQ exercises corrected and discussed by the instructors, which help you develop speed and the ability to think critically.

The Summer Session

This session is devoted exclusively to solving practice problems in all subjects based on the topics covered in the entrance exam curriculum (including Part 2). While the classes certainly help reinforce mastery of the subjects, their primary goal is to enable students to apply their knowledge to solving multiple-choice questions, particularly through a detailed analysis of how the questions are constructed—including the structure of the question stem and the selection of distractors. The session includes a session on test-taking strategies for multiple-choice exams.

The August Session

Held exclusively online, this session allows you to finalize your preparation with numerous practice exercises in the form of tests.
Each test includes about fifteen original multiple-choice questions covering the entire subject matter.

At the end of the test, you’ll see your score and, for each question, an answer key explaining how to answer it.

The online content for this session will be available starting July 10, 2027.

A mock exam is held after each preparatory session: on Saturday, May 22, 2027, and Friday, July 9, 2027.

Each mock exam will be different.

They are open to everyone, even if you did not participate in a session.

• If you are ranked in order of merit in the competitive examination

  You can follow the first 60-credit program of the bachelor's degree in medicine and take the exams according to the rules followed for all courses: in January, June, and if necessary, August. Three exam sessions are therefore organized to allow you to demonstrate your mastery of the subjects. 

  In January, you take the exams on the courses from the first four-month term. If you fail, you can retake the exam in June and/or August. This gives you three chances to pass, but only for the courses from the first four-month term of the first 60 credits. After that, any exam failed in the January or June session is automatically carried over to the August session. Depending on the professors' choice, exams may be assessed in writing or orally. The assessment methods are specified during the first class and are detailed in the study and assessment regulations (REE). 

• If you are not ranked high enough in the competitive examination 

  After the competition results have been announced, you will have the opportunity to meet individually with professors and/or academic advisors to help you clarify your plans and make the most appropriate choice. 

  However, to avoid having to rush into a new choice of studies on the eve of the academic year, it is certainly best to prepare for this eventuality before you know your results.

  Why not do it now? Info études is available throughout the year, including during school holidays, to discuss the various options with you. 

  If you have decided to retake the entrance exam the following year and are admitted to the bachelor's degree program in medicine, you will be able to transfer certain credits obtained in alternative programs. This is particularly true if you have chosen to enroll in the bachelor's degree program in biomedical sciences or pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Namur.
