By the end of the course, students will be able to understand the links between the environment, exposure to pollutants, and health effects; identify the main sources and the fate of pollutants within the body; and grasp the principles of environmental health risk assessment and management.
The course aims to provide the fundamental concepts of toxicology and environmental health necessary to understand human exposure to pollutants, their mechanisms of toxicity and health effects, as well as the approaches used to characterize, assess, and manage environmental risks.
The course covers air, water, and soil pollution; the behavior of pollutants in the environment; exposure pathways and their fate within the body; and the various forms of toxicity and their health effects. It also addresses the "environment-health" context, key stakeholders, and the principles of environmental risk assessment and management.
