Sports Hall and Student Housing: UNamur Receives Planning Permission
The University of Namur has reached a major milestone in the development of its sports hall and student housing project, located in the immediate vicinity of downtown. The building permit has just been granted by the Walloon Region’s designated official, who highlighted in particular “the project’s harmonious integration into the urban landscape.” Construction will begin at the end of August 2026 and will be carried out by the consortium comprising Thomas & Piron Bâtiment and DDS+.

The Haugimont Estate
Located in the heart of the Condruzian countryside, the Haugimont Estate lies in the commune of Gesves, 18 km southeast of Namur. Since 1978, it has been an exceptional teaching and research facility for students and scientists from the University of Namur. It is also open to the public and schools for training, discovery and leisure activities.

Lasting around 2h30, the geotrail tour takes visitors through the paths and woods of the Haugimont estate. This 2.5-kilometre signposted itinerary highlights both the characteristics of the estate (relief, hydrography, soil and subsoil, flora and fauna) and the traces of ancient human activities in the heart of the forest.
