"School and Deafness" by M. Ghesquière and L. Meurant wins an award
On 30 November 2022, Magaly Ghesquière and Laurence Meurant (UNamur), co-authors of the book "School and Deafness” (in French “Ecole et Surdité - Une expérience d'enseignement bilingue et inclusif", received the prize for the best book for Teaching and Continuing Education from the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. This is another fine award that complements the recent release of the first bilingual sign language-French contextual dictionary searchable in sign language.

Times Higher Education Ranking 2023, UNamur continues its progress
For the second year in a row, UNamur is listed in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking, the results of which were published on 12 October 2022. Like last year, our university is ranked between 801st and 1000th place in this ranking, which places it in the list of the best universities in the world in absolute terms. The results of THE 2023 also show that UNamur is progressing in four of the five indicators taken into account for the ranking.

François-Xavier Fievez, Vice-Rector for Social and Student Affairs
On 23 September 2022, the UNamur General Assembly approved the appointment of François-Xavier Fievez as Vice-Rector for Social and Student Affairs. At the request of Patrick Foissac, the Rector's Council agreed to relieve him of his duties. François-Xavier Fievez is the first language teacher in the School of Modern Languages and replaces him. He is in charge of student affairs and campus life, including culture and sport. Gender and diversity are part of the portfolio of Valérie Flohimont, Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Welfare and Safety at Work.

September 1961. A few professors and about fifteen students are entering the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management at UNamur for the very first time. It was 60 years ago, in the house of Marmol, Rampart of the Virgin. Today, the classrooms are no longer the same, the professors have succeeded one another, the course programs have continued to evolve... but it is always with the same passion that the faculty supports its students.

A publication on non-linear optics in the prestigious "Accounts of Chemical Research" (ACS) journal
An international team of researchers, including Professor Benoît Champagne from UNamur, has just published a paper in the prestigious journal "Accounts of Chemical Research" (ACS). They have demonstrated the role of dynamic fluctuations in the structure of molecules on their optical properties. This aspect of dynamics is innovative because previous studies were limited to rigid structures.
