Would you like to improve your skills in hotel and tourism management? Do you aspire to hold a management position in these growing sectors or to start your own business?
We invite you to an information session on the certificate program on Monday, September 7, 2026, starting at 4:30 p.m., at the Forem Tourism Competence Center (Rue de la Plaine 1, 6900 Marche-en-Famenne, WEX Business Park).

Overview
Your Goals
Become reflective managers in the hospitality and tourism industry who are capable of critically evaluating your practices, modifying them as needed, and successfully carrying out projects.
This hands-on program will enable you to develop your own business plans during classes and individual or group coaching sessions led by expert faculty members and industry professionals.
By the end of the program, you will be able to:
- navigate the tourism landscape in Wallonia, Belgium, and internationally;
- design, plan, and manage new hospitality projects;
- develop and present a business plan;
- resolve existing problems within an accommodation facility (for-profit or nonprofit);
- develop strategic and marketing thinking;
- master the basics of a hotel’s operational management;
- develop a financial plan.
Organized in partnership with the HORECA-Wallonia Federation, this university certificate program aims to:
- train executives in hotel management for roles involving planning, strategy, project management, and even leadership in companies, non-profit organizations, or public agencies within the tourist accommodation sector;
- support projects involving the acquisition or creation of tourist accommodations;
- provide training in strategic management to meet the needs of companies in the sector as they face technological, digital, climate, and energy transformations, as well as new economic challenges;
- to develop entrepreneurial and managerial skills to reduce the bankruptcy rate in one of the economic sectors where it is highest.

Where?
The training takes place at the Forem Tourisme Competence Center, located at the Wex Business Park, 1 Rue la Plaine, 6900 Marche-en-Famenne.
When?
The 2026–2027 academic year begins on September 28, 2026, and ends in June (1st session) or August (2nd session) 2027.
The program consists of 23 training days of 6 hours each (for a total of 138 hours), as well as individual and group coaching sessions, for a total of 20 credits. Classes are held on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Who?
Courses are taught by faculty members, academics, and practitioners from various partner institutions, as well as by experts in the hotel and tourism management sector.
The program director is Alain Decrop (UNamur). The co-directors are Olivier Patris (HE Charlemagne) and Laurent Smolders (HEPN).

Terms and Conditions and Registration Fees
The certificate is designed for professionals in the hospitality or tourism industries who wish to expand their knowledge of analytical, management, and strategic tools tailored to the hotel management and tourist accommodation sectors. It is also open to college graduates who wish to change career paths to the hospitality and tourism sector, particularly with a view to taking over or launching a new lodging business.
Admission Requirements
The program is open to any candidate who holds, at a minimum, a short-term higher education degree (Bac+3).
Admission based on an application through the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) process is also possible for candidates who can demonstrate at least three years of professional experience in the fields of hospitality, lodging, and tourism.
Tuition
Tuition is 990 euros for the entire program.
“Working” Students

- For any non-profit organization (ASBL) affiliated with Joint Commission 329.02 or 329.03, it is possible to receive a grant of 450 euros from the 4S Fund through the “turnkey” program.
