1. To master the state-of-the art theoretical aspects related to the field of interest by performing a review of three experimental articles selected on a same thematics;
2. To understand the main goals, working hypotheses and experimental strategies developed in the three articles;
3. To critically analyze and interpret the results described in the three articles;
4. To present the goals and results of the three articles in a scientific review, possibly including other references from the literature (written document and oral presentation followed by a session of questions and answers). The students must present the context of the field of interest and state-of-the-art in an introduction, describe the main goals of the articles and present the experimental results in a clear and comprehensive manner. The manuscript will also include conclusions and discussion points based on the findings.
The aim of this personal work is to train students in analyzing the literature on a specific question, in writing in English a review manuscript and in defending their work following an oral presentation.
Students may find a vademecum in WebCampus, which describes the recommendations for the writing of the thesis manuscript.
The analytical work, the master thesis writting and the preparation of the oral defense is performed under the supervision of the professor who proposed the biomedical question (superviser).
The written document, presentation and defense, all in English, will be evaluated by a jury of 2 members, in addition to the mzster thesis promoter. A moderator also contributes to the evaluation of the presentation and defense. The master thesis supervisor evaluates the work conducted during the whole work, the manuscript, presentation and defense.
Evaluation criteria are listed below.
The supervisor’s grade will account for 50% of the final grade.
The jury’s grade will account for 40% of the final grade (14% for the manuscript, 6% for the presentation, 20% for the defense).
The moderator’s grade (for the presentation and defense) will account for the remaining 10% of the grade.
Final grades will be calculated by the moderator, following the aforementioned distribution.
