Learning outcomes

This course is an introduction to philosophy of science. The course explores the foundations of the scientific method: what distinguishes the scientific method from other types of method? Can we distinguish science from pseudoscience? Can predictions be made from simple observations?  Do values interfer with science and technology, and with what consequences? The case of data sciences will also be discussed.
 

Teaching methods

The course will alternate between lectures and group discussions in class.

Assessment method

Assessment will consist of 1/ written questions about readings during the semester, 2/ final written exam.
