Learning outcomes

At the end of the teaching unit, students will be able to:

·         Master the fundamental scientific knowledge related to the challenges of sustainable development and transition;

·         Understand and explain the challenges associated with sustainable development and transitions;

·         Use a common and rigorous vocabulary related to the challenges of sustainable development and transition;

·         Integrate multiple and diverse knowledge systems and worldviews;

·         Understand the epistemology of one’s own field of study and be open to disciplines other than one’s own;

·         Critically reflect on their education and training, particularly by integrating the various challenges of sustainable development and transitions within their field of study;

Goals

The aim of the course is to provide students with a common understanding of sustainable development and transition issues in an interdisciplinary context. 

Content

Students follow between 5 and 10 course modules (5h) recorded in videos and available on the course website.

The following topics are addressed in particular:

-              General panorama: planetary boundaries and donut economy, Anthropocene and global change, resource exhaustion and technological rise, legal norms, deep ecology and livability, environmental democracy, etc.

- Introduction to One Health: defining the concept of One Health, positioning it in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),

- Ecology: ecosystems, biodiversity crisis ...

-              Human medicine: impact of care on the environment and environmental degradation on health, public health, medicine in crisis situations ...

-              Bioethics: Historical origins, sociological evolution of dignity (living human), ethical questions relating to the beginning and end of life ...

-  Political science and health: Climate wars, migration, emerging and re-emerging diseases ...

Teaching methods

The course takes the form of videos to be watched at home, independently. These videos are available on an interactive platform. Where appropriate, experience-based activities may be offered on a voluntary basis.

Assessment method

At the end of each module, the student finds, on webcampus, an online evaluation questionnaire. He must answer the questions and get a score of 80%. He can repeat the questionnaire as many times as he wants until he gets the expected score.
