Upon completion of the seminar, students will be able to:
— understand that the notion of sustainable development, and related concepts (such as "transition" or "post-growth"), carry different meanings;
— differentiate these concepts according to the assumptions on which they are built, in particular the place they give to the economy;
— link a public policy to the conception of sustainable development on which it is based;
— critically analyse scientific work as well as political arguments;
— argue, in writing and orally.
To help students deepen their understanding of concepts related to sustainable development through a series of mandatory scientific readings, and then to use these concepts to build arguments in debate situations.

Application to the agri-food theme, around three questions: should pesticides be banned? For or against a social security scheme for food? Should university restaurants serve only vegetarian, healthy and ethical dishes?
The seminar alternates between independent work at home, online sessions, and in-person sessions.
Individual reading preparation, participation, and a final written report.
