The aim of this course is to give students an in-depth view of the analysis of a company's financial statements.
Being able to achieve a complete work of financial analysis.
Financial analysis is the exercise of processing the raw information contained in the company's financial statements for diagnostic purposes. As such, the course focuses on the different aspects defining the financial health of the company (liquidity, solvency, profitability, etc.) as well as on an in-depth examination of its cash-flow (cash-flow, cash-flow statements, etc.).
The course is structured around a minimum of four in-person sessions. These sessions cover the essential theoretical concepts and provide an opportunity for students to present the projects they have completed in groups.
The projects consist of a comprehensive financial analysis and are presented in three stages: two interim presentations and one final presentation. After each presentation, groups receive feedback on both content and delivery, together with recommendations that they are expected to incorporate into subsequent presentations.
Between plenary sessions, groups can request additional online support and guidance.
The course is shared by the daytime and evening Master’s programmes. However, class times are adapted to each programme: sessions for students enrolled in the daytime programmes are scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., while sessions for students enrolled in the evening programmes are scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Assessment is based on a group project involving a financial analysis assignment and its presentation in three stages (two interim presentations and one final presentation). 70% of the grade is based on the group’s overall performance, while 30% is based on individual performance.
In the event of a failing grade, students are required to improve their work based on the instructor’s feedback and recommendations. No presentation is required during the second examination session.
Given the teaching and learning methods used in the course (coaching, presentations, etc.), no second-session assessment is available to students who did not participate in the course activities during the semester and/or did not submit their work during the first examination session.
There is no exam.
