#A-E-Learning

Communications managers and journalists from the baccalaureate level!

Project-based learning integrates and applies your knowledge across multiple disciplines through real-world case studies.

Just like true communication experts, you’ll learn to work collaboratively and demonstrate a range of skills:

  • from observation, literature review, source criticism, data collection, and analysis;
  • to producing a high-quality report—in some cases including an executive summary or a scientific poster written in English—which you present, along with your team, to a panel.

To boost your soft skills in foreign-language communication, your language professors provide coaching

At the end of the program, you have the opportunity to spend a semester studying at a Flemish university or abroad to deepen your knowledge of English, Dutch, or Spanish.

The “Learning by Doing” Approach

Projects play an increasingly important role throughout your bachelor’s program, through concrete and diverse case studies:

IN BLOCK 1:

  • Observing political actors and their communications
    • How do political actors position themselves in print, audiovisual, and digital media?
    • An exercise in observation, identification, and description that you will carry out in your Block 1 Project: “Decoding Political Communication.”

IN BLOCK 2:

  • Explain the actors and their strategies
    • When you unravel communication strategies through field analysis.
    • Using qualitative research methods, you will analyze and describe how actors in the field deploy their action and communication strategies for your Block 2 Project on the digital transition

IN BLOCK 3:

  • Taking Action and Questioning Practice
    • Communicate like a pro!
    • Through an internship in journalism, corporate communications, or the cultural and creative industries, this Block 3 Project immerses you in the professional world. Directly linked to the internship, you will conduct research and produce a professional project tailored to your field of study, presenting it to a jury in a foreign language.

Communication careers

Métiers de la communication

Communication professions

The skills acquired through training in information and communication enable individuals to pursue careers in fields such as:

  • journalism (print media, radio, television news, general or specialized journalism, etc.)
  • media (production for television, film, video games, etc.)
  • information technology (digital platforms, social media, online streaming, etc.)
  • advertising
  • event management (festivals, trade shows, corporate events, etc.)
  • public relations and corporate communications (management of internal and external communications within a company, community management, crisis management, organizational image management, etc.)
  • the socio-cultural sector (museums, theaters, concert halls, non-profit organizations, continuing education, etc.).

Furthermore, the world of communication is constantly evolving and redefining itself: new professions therefore emerge regularly, while others transform in the wake of technological innovations and societal changes. Today, for example, we must devise new ways of producing television in response to the development of digital platforms and streaming.

Managing social media internally or externally has become a role handled by the organization’s community manager. When designing a media project, it is increasingly common to integrate different media formats, following a transmedia model, and to consider how to structure content through storytelling. “Influencers” on the internet are also inventing new ways to communicate by innovatively leveraging the unique features of digital platforms. Curiosity and adaptability are therefore two essential personal qualities for thriving in careers in communications.
