Information Sessions

Are you interested in this training program?

The CAPAES team invites you to attend one of the following information sessions.

These sessions will take place simultaneously in person (at the Faculty of Education and Training, Place Saint-Aubain, 14 5000 Namur) and online on the following dates:

Overview

In collaboration with the Namur Technical Institute (ITN), the Faculty of Education and Training offers theoretical and practical training to prepare students for the CAPAES.

The CAPAES is a mandatory certificate, established by decree of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, which enables teachers currently employed at universities, in adult education institutions offering higher-level programs, in higher arts schools, or any member of the academic or scientific staff responsible for teaching at a university (even if they do not previously hold a teaching credential) to obtain an appropriate teaching credential

IMPORTANT! For teachers in educational categories who teach pedagogy, didactics, or training through and by practice, the required qualification is the Master’s degree in Teacher Education (MSFE)

Training

The CAPAES training program consists of a theoretical component, a practical component, and a personal portfolio.

The theoretical component

The theoretical component is worth 15 credits (reduced to 10 credits if you already hold a master’s degree in education or a teaching credential) and includes:

  • a sociopolitical track
  • a psycho-relational track
  • an educational track

The practical component

The practical component is worth 10 credits (reduced to 5 credits if you already hold a master’s degree in education or a teaching credential) and includes:

  • a practical support track
  • a track in practice analysis
  • a professional development track

The personal portfolio

A portfolio prepared by the CAPAES candidate, worth 5 credits.

The courses include in-person sessions as well as independent work. They are organized using diverse and flexible teaching and support methods, with an innovative hybrid approach combining in-person and distance learning.

They are delivered using methods tailored to the specific CAPAES audience, emphasizing pedagogical approaches to be promoted in higher education.

The CAPAES is awarded to candidates who have successfully completed all three components (theoretical, practical, and personal portfolio).

Class Excuses

Many educational degrees qualify students for a reduced course load (exemption from the courses “Prerequisites in Educational Engineering,” “Prerequisites in Education Sciences,” and “Practicum Seminar”).

Class Schedule

The course is held over the course of a year, two evenings a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
