By the end of the course, the student will be able to understand and use transport flow simulation and forecasting models, analyze the factors influencing travel demand, and evaluate the main environmental and economic consequences associated with transport.
The course has a dual objective: to introduce traffic simulation and forecasting models—primarily for urban environments—and to analyze the environmental impacts of transport flows, particularly regarding congestion, air pollution, and noise, including their economic assessment.
The course covers three main areas: traffic assignment models; explanatory factors and transport demand forecasting; and the environmental impacts and external costs of transport. It also addresses corporate travel plans and various issues related to sustainable mobility.
