To celebrate Pi Day, an annual event centered around the number π, the Confluent des Savoirs and the Department of Mathematics are organizing an immersive morning event to bring mathematics to life for 10th and 11th graders!
What is Pi Day?
Pi Day is much more than just a date on the calendar: it’s an opportunity to celebrate mathematics in all its forms! Centered around the famous constant π, this event invites students to explore the fascinating world of math—beyond common misconceptions—and to discover how it’s everywhere in our daily lives and in cutting-edge technology.
Why participate with your 7th and 8th graders?
Specially designed for upper-level students (7th and 8th grade), Pi Day offers a stimulating break from the classroom. It’s a unique opportunity for them to:
- Discover practical applications of mathematics, from social media to robotics, including social issues.
- Change their perspective on a subject often considered abstract, by making it come alive and accessible.
- Meet enthusiasts and experts who share their passion and expertise.
