Electronic structure and geometry of transition metal complexes
Structure-reactivity relationships in transition metal complexes
Reactivity of polar organometallics
Catalytic cycles involving transition metal complexes
Hydrogenation reactions
Cross-coupling reactions
CH activation reactions
The lecture is designed to give a first overview of the reactivity of transition metal complexes and their uses as catalysts.
A rational approach based on structure and reaction mechanisms is used.
The main families of transformations employing organometallics are reviewed and a structural and mechanistic approach is applied.
CHAPTER 1 : Polar organometallic reagents
CHAPTER 2 : Hydrometalation and carbometallation
CHAPTER 3 : Transition metal complexes
CHAPTER 4 : Cross-coupling reactions
CHAPTER 5 : Hydrogenations reactions
CHAPTER 6 : Alkenes metathesis
CHAPTER 7 : C-H activation reactions

Some exercises will be done during the lessons
Traditional lecture in English. Student interactivity is encouraged.
A written examination of 2-3 hours based on recent publications that are handed out beforehand.
Course notes are provided in PDF format.
