Aiming for a campus that is sustainable in both substance and form! This is UNamur’s goal as outlined in its UNIVERS 2025 strategic plan. The PDE is the first step on the path toward more sustainable mobility. It is a wide-ranging project that affects us all and requires your cooperation to ensure its success!

An internal mobility study had already been conducted in 2017 and had led to an ambitious action plan. Five years later, UNamur turned to Traject, a specialized consulting firm, whose mission is not only to propose new initiatives based on an in-depth study of our mobility, our institution’s context, and emerging environmental challenges, but also to support us in implementing them over a three-year period.

How the Corporate Travel Plan Works

Who is TRAJECT?

TRAJECT specializes in mobility, with a particular focus on change management. They have been supporting behavioral change in the field of mobility for nearly 30 years.

In every project they undertake, they apply these three principles:

  • Tailored approach: every organization is different and has its own constraints. Therefore, no action can be replicated exactly as is. These specificities must be identified for the project to succeed.
  • The project must be driven not only by the consulting firm but also, and above all, by the working group. The project must be co-created and shared. This is how its sustainability will be ensured.
  • Active staff participation, communication that is as transparent as possible, and raising awareness of the issue will lead to strong buy-in for the project and, consequently, significant behavioral change.

What is the consulting firm’s mission?

The objective is to support UNamur in developing its travel plan, in identifying and implementing mobility measures that are specific and tailored to the profile of the University and its employees in order to encourage them to travel in a more sustainable manner.

This plan is now finalized and includes:

  • an assessment, a mobility profile, and a SWOT analysis of the current situation;
  • a survey of all staff to identify and understand mobility practices and needs at the University;
  • an action plan and evaluation criteria.

The goal is to step up efforts to offer even more alternatives to driving, improve traffic flow around campus, and reduce its carbon footprint.
