The Department of Physics welcomes a delegation from CERN

In May 2025, the Department of Physics welcomed two special visitors: Serge Mathot and François Briard from Namur, both alumni of UNamur and members of CERN. Several activities were on the program, ranging from a visit to the particle accelerator, to science popularization and thematic seminars, particularly in heritage sciences. The aim? To identify areas or activities in which UNamur and CERN could strengthen their collaboration.

When UNamur told its story in postcards

The Moretus Plantin University Library (BUMP) at UNamur preserves a collection of several thousand postcards within its precious reserve. This remarkable collection offers an original insight into the daily life of the people of Namur in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some of these cards show the Faculties as they looked almost a century ago, and illustrate the teaching and research activities that were carried out there at the time.

AI as a driver of autonomy in the workplace

The U-BPM (User-oriented Business Process Management) project explores how artificial intelligence can serve as a bridge between different business functions within a company. This process-management-focused approach is led by Malik Schinckus as part of the Win4doc program, a doctoral thesis funded by SPW Research. In collaboration with UNamur and the consulting firm Daïmo, Malik Schinckus brings theory and practice together to improve collaboration, performance, and reflection on everyday practices in the business world.

Economy: Why Are More African Women Converting to New Christian Churches?

New Christian churches are experiencing spectacular growth, particularly in Africa. While they are attracting a growing number of followers, it is notable that women are joining them far more often than men. Catherine Guirkinger, a professor and researcher in development economics, examines this gendered phenomenon of religious conversion and the economic mechanisms underlying it. This original research has just received prestigious WelCHANGE funding through the 2025 call for proposals from the F.R.S-FNRS.

Training reflective, autonomous, and supportive teachers

Since September 2023, the reform of initial teacher training (RFIE) has been profoundly transforming the teaching profession. This year, it is taking a new step forward with the replacement of the former teaching-oriented master's degrees and the agrégation by master's degrees in teaching sections 4 and 5. Led by the Faculty of Education and Training Sciences (FaSEF), in collaboration with the Faculties of Science and EMCP (Economics, Management, Communication, and Political Science), the reform is accompanied by a strengthened partnership with HENALLUX (Namur-Liège-Luxembourg University College).

Which chatbot can we really trust? A reliable answer to this question can now be provided thanks to a unique scientific tool: the AI Score. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the University of Namur, it provides an objective, reproducible, and transparent way of measuring the reliability of educational chatbots.
