Initiated and coordinated by Bernard Pireaux (UCLouvain), this collective work - co-authored in particular by Professors Laurent Houssiau and Jim Plumat (UNamur) - offers a reference manual to accompany students of medicine, biomedical sciences and life sciences throughout their course. Designed as a clear, progressive and practical tool, it illustrates just how essential physics is to the understanding of living organisms and to medical practice.

In 2025-2026, UNamur's Faculty of Sciences has the honor and privilege of hosting Professor Sander Jacobs on the occasion of a Francqui Chair awarded to him by the Francqui Foundation: "Repairing our relationship with Nature to transform our societies". Sander Jacobs is Senior Researcher at INBO (Institute for Nature and Forest), Nature & Society research group, Coordinator of the Urban Nature research program and Visiting Professor at Ghent University.

The Faculty of Medicine is equipped with several cross-disciplinary research entities that also rely on collaboration with UCL Godinne University Hospital within the Namur Institute for Life Sciences (Narilis) research institute..

This is a significant honor for two members of the UNamur School of Medicine: Professor Charlotte Beaudart, who heads the "clinical research" track of the Master’s program in biomedical sciences, and Professor Jonathan Douxfils (School of Medicine, URPC – NARILIS) have just joined the College of Young Researchers of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium.

This is a great recognition of research at UNamur: three Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks (DN) projects have just been awarded, with a key contribution from researchers in Namur! The first, in chemistry, involves Professor Stéphane Vincent; the second, focused on ecosystem resilience, involves Professor Frédérik de Laender; and the third, in the field of photonics, benefits from the expertise of FNRS-qualified researcher Michaël Lobet.

After nine years at the helm, Professor Jean-Pierre Gillet has handed over the leadership of the Department of Biomedical Sciences to Professor Marielle Boonen. This is an opportunity to look back on the significant growth of this department, which now trains nearly 500 students each year.
