Learning outcomes

With this course, students will obtain an in depth view of the functioning of financial markets and institutions as well as their role within the financial system as a whole.

Goals

Develop a thorough understanding and in-depth knowledge of the architecture of the financial system and its key players.

Content

The course focuses on the study of both intermediated and non-intermediated finance. The first part will examine the different types of financial markets, their organisation and functioning. The second part will focus on financial intermediation, with particular emphasis on the banking industry, its various business models and ongoing developments. The general principles of banking regulation will also be presented.

1. Materials made available to students on WebCampus (PowerPoint slides, Excel simulations, etc.)

2. In-class lectures

Assessment method

A written exam will take place during the examination period and will cover all course material, including the exercises solved in class.
