After undergraduate and graduate studies in applied mathematics at UNamur, Johan Barthelemy joined the University of Wollongong (UoW) in Australia. An expert in artificial intelligence, he now works for NVIDIA while devoting part of his time to research, mainly for the Securing Antarctica's Environmental Future (SAEF) program. A commitment that led him to participate recently in a mission to Antarctica.

The European Euclid satellite will be launched into space from Cape Canaveral in the United States at 5.11pm on Saturday 1 July. The telescope is intended to provide a more accurate map of billions of galaxies over a distance of around twelve billion light years. A team of Belgian scientists and engineers from UCLouvain, ULB, ULg, UNamur and Ghent University, as well as the Space center in Liège (CSL), took part in this ten-year project, bringing together more than 3,500 people from 21 countries.

Physics & Challenges (Physique & Défis in French), a seminar course initiated by Professor Jim Plumat in 2013 at UNamur as part of the PUNCH projects, is organised in the form of a research project. This year, a partnership has been set up with the Haute École de la Province de Namur (HEPN) for a practical systemic training course with an original pedagogical approach.

This summer, Kevin will take up his post as president of the UNamur General Assembly of students (AGE). Aged 22, he is a master's student in physics and knows the Namur campus well. Over the past five years, he has taken on several roles: course delegate, student administrator, member of the AGE bureau, member of the Sciences Review and of a project dormitory, as well as culture and communication delegate. Created in memory of the founder of the Department of Biology, the Fonds Adrien Bauchau has been promoting excellence in life sciences research since 1989. As it prepares to blow out its 35th birthday candle, the Fund is rolling out new initiatives to promote the development of biology at UNamur.

The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has just published a study in the prestigious journal Nature, listing and assessing the different values we place on nature. Nicolas Dendoncker, professor in the Department of Geography and member of the ILEE Institute at UNamur, is one of the co-authors.

With its expertise in the field of geology and biodiversity conservation, the UNamur is one of the partners of the new Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse National Park designated by the Walloon Government. Alongside the other actors and promoters of the project, the UNamur will make its knowledge and experience available to enhance and preserve this exceptional natural heritage!
