Accessibility to and around the UniversityThe University of Namur ensures that its roads and buildings are easily accessible to people with reduced mobility.External associationsAtingoFor over 20 years, Atingo, formerly named, GAMAH (Groupe d'Action pour une Meilleure Accessibilité aux personnes handicapées), develops all actions aimed at improving the accessibility of public spaces, transport and buildings so as to enable people with reduced mobility to acquire maximum autonomy.Pedibus serviceThe Pedibus Service offers a series of information, training, animation and mediation tools aimed at implementing the synergies necessary and sufficient to guarantee the quality of pedestrian travel in our towns and villages.Service Passe-PartoutThe Service Passe-Partout has developed, with the support of the Walloon Region, a unique method for analyzing in great detail the accessibility of buildings according to 6 categories of People with Reduced Mobility, and doing so with an emphasis on individual autonomy: Indice Passe-Partout.AccessAndGo-ABPAccessAndGo-ABP, formerly AccessAndGo asbl and ABP asbl, works daily to improve the accessibility of our society and accompany people with reduced mobility (PRM) in the different stages of their lives. Whether it's people in wheelchairs, walking with difficulty, the blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, with comprehension difficulties but also families with baby carriages, the elderly, expectant mothers, travelers or those temporarily injured, all citizens are concerned by the daily struggle of AccessAndGo-ABP. Organic meadows and orchards

The Domaine d'Haugimont boasts 56.5 hectares of meadows, including 11 hectares of high-stem orchards of old varieties of cultivated apple trees managed organically.

Rivers and ponds

The Domaine d'Haugimont is crossed by the Samson and several streams. It also boasts 2.5 hectares of ponds and marshes that contribute to the development of biodiversity and aquatic ecosystems.

The University has three university residences. One is for boys only (RUE), another is for girls (RUEE), and the third is mixed (Le Carmel). Students staying at the RUE or RUEE benefit from supervision by educators.

History of a Jesuit university

In 1831, when it was founded by the Jesuits, the University of Namur had... 2 students and taught only philosophy. Some 200 years later, it trains over 7,000 students of 63 different nationalities. These students work in 7 faculties and an interfaculty department: law, computer science, medicine, philosophy & literature, science, economics, social & management sciences, education and training sciences, as well as the School of Modern Languages.While the numbers have changed a great deal, the spirit of our university remains: To pay particular attention to the self-fulfilment of its members and the sustainable development of society.
