The Lab of Environmental Change and Community Ecology (LEEE) is directed by Professor Frédéric De Laender. It is one of 4 laboratories belonging to the Environmental and Evolutionary Biology Research Unit (URBE) within the Biology Department. The LEEE is also a member of the Institute of Life, Earth and Environment (ILEE).

In 2025-2026, UNamur's Faculty of Sciences has the honor and privilege of hosting Professor Sander Jacobs on the occasion of a Francqui Chair awarded to him by the Francqui Foundation: "Repairing our relationship with Nature to transform our societies". Sander Jacobs is Senior Researcher at INBO (Institute for Nature and Forest), Nature & Society research group, Coordinator of the Urban Nature research program and Visiting Professor at Ghent University.

Context UNamur aims to allow users of UNamur to create an account on the downloadable UNI for Change application (the application) and access the activities offered through this application. This application can also be used to support educational projects and activities intended for the community to directly or indirectly promote sustainable development. It can also facilitate participation in scientific studies. Managing access to the application and using the application as support for the aforementioned activities involves processing personal data. Categories of personal data processed and purposes of use For the purposes of this activity, the University of Namur processes data in the following categories:Data related to the creation of the account on the application (name, first name, email address, photograph, etc.)Affiliation with UNamurStatus (student/employee/alumni)Data related to the challenges and activities offered on the platformData on lifestyles and daily habits, particularly those taken into account in the carbon calculatorData related to teaching and educational activities [category including the following types of data: data related to the organization of work groups, formative activities, exams, course evaluations, tests offered as part of success support, completed work, etc.]These data are used to:Manage the administration and animation of the UNI for Change applicationOffer participation in scientific studiesProduce statisticsManage the use of the application in the context of educational activities and their evaluationManage the use of the application in the context of community activities related to sustainable development Basis of lawfulness of data processing The management of data associated with the creation of an account on the application and the technical use of the application is based on the execution of a contract with the person whose data is involved or to take steps at the request of that person prior to entering into a contract (Article 6, 1, b) of the GDPR). The management of data related to educational and research activities and community projects is based on the public interest mission of teaching, research, and community service (Article 6, 1, e) of the GDPR). Read more Characteristics of Processing The retention period is determined based on the necessity to retain the data for operational needs depending on the purpose of their use:For users, 18 months after the last use of the application or until their account is deleted from the application.For staff members with an administrator role on the application, until the role is revoked or their account is deleted from the application. The Domaine d'Haugimont serves as a venue for learning, experimentation, and research for members of the Namur academic community. It also contributes to training programs in several fields (school education, continuing education for teachers, agronomy, forest management, and animal husbandry).

The Ovine Research Center (CRO) at the University of Namur is located at the Haugimont Estate, a stunning natural setting in Faulx-les-Tombes (Gesves, Belgium). It is part of the Integrated Veterinary Research Unit within the Department of Veterinary Medicine.The Center combines three main missions: research, teaching, and animal husbandry.

The Domaine d'Haugimont gîte is a former farmhouse owned by the University of Namur. It is located in a rural and wooded setting.

Located in the heart of the Condruzian countryside, the Haugimont Estate lies in the commune of Gesves, 18 km southeast of Namur. Since 1978, it has been an exceptional teaching and research facility for students and scientists from the University of Namur. It is also open to the public and schools for training, discovery and leisure activities.
