The call for applications for study stays in Flanders, Europe and other destinations outside Europe opens in mid-December. Interested students receive the link to the online application form via their faculty coordinators. FNRS funds
The mission of the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique - FNRS is to develop basic scientific research through initiatives presented by researchers. It promotes the production and development of knowledge by supporting individual researchers on the one hand, and by funding research programs carried out in laboratories and departments located mainly in the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation on the other.At the University of Namur, many researchers carry out their work thanks to funding from the FNRS.The FNRS is a major source of funding for the University of Namur.

Financial aid for students from outside the European Union
Intervention in the payment of registration fees
Certain foreign students from outside the European Union (or assimilated to them), enrolled at UNamur for more than one year, must pay registration fees of €4,175, €2,505 or €5,010 (if they change cycle or reorient themselves during the cycle in 2025-2026). The Commission des étudiants internationaux (formerly known as the Commission des étudiants étrangers) may grant, according to criteria it has established, total or partial, direct or conditional financial assistance for the payment of registration fees for students concerned by these provisions.The application file must be collected from a Cellule sociale office from September 29 at the earliest until October 21 at the latest.

Financial assistance for the purchase of a computer
This intervention covers, for the student who meets the conditions, part of the costs related to the purchase of a computer (new or reconditioned).
Students from outside the European Union (2025-2026)
Contribution to education and living expenses (excluding higher fees)
To obtain a residence permit to study in Belgium, all foreign students must provide proof of their financial autonomy (e.g. taken in charge by a guarantor, bank guarantee deposit).However, if financial difficulties arise, the student can contact the Cellule sociale des étudiants:either by e-mail: sse@unamur.beor by telephone on 081/72 50 85or at a permanence or appointmentto report his or her situation and obtain, if he or she meets the access conditions the application form for financial assistance.
Specific "exam" allowance
The Cellule sociale can grant students who work regularly to cover all or part of their study costs a specific "exams" allowance to enable them to devote more time to their exam session. Info for the 2025-2026 academic year will be available from November 2025.

Prize list for "memoirs
Each year, the Faculty of Computer Science awards a prize for a dissertation that particularly stands out for its quality, originality, rigor and the scope of the results obtained. Created in 2013 as a tribute to Professor Emeritus Jean Fichefet, who played a leading role in the founding and consolidation of the Faculty of Computer Science, this prize salutes the spirit of innovation, enterprise, investing in new fields and new avenues. Since 2023, the prize has been renamed and divided into two categories:Computing dissertation prize, societal impact: a prize that tends to promote dissertations distinguished by their societal character. The themes focus on a technology or development that improves the quality of life together, or on an ethical reflection based on a technology or development studied.Computer Science dissertation prize, general impact: prize that tends to promote dissertations in all themes studied within the Faculty of Computer Science, including societal themes.

Teaching kindergarten to secondary 3 (sections 1 to 3)
The Reform of Initial Teacher Training (RFIE) began in 2023. To become a teacher in sections 1 to 3 (from reception to secondary 3), students must now follow a 4-year course, organized by a high school (referent establishment) in co-graduation with one or more universities. The University of Namur co-organizes training courses with Hénallux (referent) and UCLouvain, as well as with IMEP for music teaching.
