UNamur Institute for Research in Didactics and Education

The Institut de Recherche en Didactiques et Éducation de l'Université de Namur (IRDENa) is made up of researchers from various faculties and departments at the University of Namur. These transversal relationships offer a multidisciplinary approach and aim to amplify synergies between researchers in the world of education and didactics.Their mission is to foster the emergence of new research objects and methodologies, stemming from a variety of disciplinary anchors.

The UNamur to host two prestigious international Francqui Chairs in April 2023

From 17 April 2023, UNamur will host two prestigious international Francqui Chairs. Professor Timoteo Carletti (Department of Mathematics - naXys Institute) will host Professor Ginestra Bianconi, one of the leading experts on networks and high-order structures. Professor Romain Houssa (Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management - DeFiPP Institute) will welcome Professor Karel Mertens, an expert in macroeconomics.

Synthetic choirs | A choir of robots created at the UNamur

A choir of robots sounds like science fiction! Yet it is a reality at the University of Namur. In the robotics laboratory of the Faculty of Computer Science, researchers from the naXys institute, led by professors Elio Tuci and Timoteo Carletti, some members of TRAKK, some artists and external partners collaborated on the "Synthetic Choirs" project.

Two new projects in framework of the BEWARE Fellowships programme

Thanks to the BEWARE Fellowships programme, the University of Namur will welcome two new post-doctoral students. Within the research institutes naXys and NaDI and in collaboration with the companies CISEO and SAVICS, they will contribute to the development of two projects. The first aims to design an intelligent robot for the pharmaceutical industry, and the second, a secure system for sharing decentralized data.

The four UNamur continuing education centers specializing in the education sector have come together within "La Salle des Pros" to strengthen their collaborations, their cross-functional approach and their visibility. REF: 4 days of meetings on education and didactics

The Réseau international francophone de recherche en éducation et formation (REF), founded in 1989, brings together every two years in one of the four founding countries (France, Belgium, Quebec, Switzerland) researchers in education sciences and didactics. The meetings are usually held over two days and take the form of parallel symposia on different educational research themes, linked by a common thread. They took place at UNamur last July. Politics: "Voter turnout in decline: are Belgians turning their backs on elections?" (#2)

On June 9, 2024, Belgians will go to the polls to elect their European, federal and regional representatives. This triple ballot will also mark a major first in Belgium: the participation of 16-18 year-olds in European elections.
