Creating links, building bridges to Germanic culture with rigor and passion: this was the major objective of the "Founding Fathers", Professors Martien J.G. de Jong, Michel Hanot and Léo Somers, who created the Germanic section in September 1961. A lot has changed since then, in academia as in the world at large, but no matter where our lives take us, we always retain this part of our Namur and German identity: "I'm from Namur", "Were you at the Facs too?", "Ah, we miss the 5th floor!"On this webpage, we'd like to share with our alumni a few tributes to our founding fathers and their successors. We also offer a look back at our 50th anniversary celebrated in 2011, and some photos of our more recent activities. To start studying biology, you need to be passionate about living organisms and enjoy questioning yourself to understand how they function, behave and evolve in relation to the environment. You need to tackle the subjects right from the start and manage to balance work and leisure. Personally, I study best in the quiet of the library.

The Faculty of Science has more than 400 members who are involved, each year, in the scientific academic career of 1500 students.

The Faculty of Science demonstrates cutting-edge, rich, dynamic and interdisciplinary research developed through the research units and laboratories of the various departments.

In the sciences, the international dimension is essential! It's possible to explore beyond the borders of the Université de Namur to do an internship or take a course, or to work in a laboratory at another university in the country. The institution has established cooperation agreements with other universities and initiated numerous international research projects that encourage exchanges and researcher mobility.
