Do you have what it takes?
Test your knowledge and skills with "Passeports pour le bac".At the start of your first year, "Passeports pour le bac" allow you to compare your achievements with the expectations of your teachers.Depending on your results, the Faculty will offer you reinforcement sessions. In this way, you can fill in any gaps and promote your success. The results of these tests are not taken into account in your end-of-year assessment.
Are your methods appropriate?
To succeed in your first year, you need effective strategies.Working methods sessions are organized to familiarize you with university learning techniques:taking clear and comprehensive notes;summarizing and synthesizing material;understanding material in depth;memorizing large amounts of information;managing your time during class and blockade periods;organizing your work;anticipating teachers' requirements.In addition, the cellule interfacultaire d'appui pédagogique offers individual follow-up. Throughout the year, an advisor is on hand to review your study methods and techniques and help you improve them.
And if you run into difficulties?
The Faculty offers remediation sessions, standby duty and other services between exam sessions.RemediationRemediation sessions are organized in small groups; they enable you to review the subjects taught in depth and prepare effectively for exams.The modalities of these sessions are specific to each course and are specified by the teachers.PermanencesTeachers or assistants regularly organize group question-and-answer sessions. Outside these sessions, they can also meet with you by appointment.Between exam sessionsAfter the January and June assessments, you have the opportunity to consult your exam papers, attend a marking session, obtain further explanations, correct exercises done at home, etc.All these activities are coordinated by the Faculty's Didactic Unit, which acts as an interface between students and teachers.
How can you prepare for the exams?
Studying regularly, acquiring good methods, but also knowing the requirements of teachers and their way of questioning.In the first year, formative assessments are organized at the end of October in certain subjects. These tests are not included in the grades awarded at the end of the year. You can discuss your results with the teachers or the head of the Didactic Unitand, if necessary, contact the Interfaculty Pedagogical Support Unit to improve your working methods.Beyond the first year, you should adapt your efforts more effectively to the nature and importance of each of the subjects in the program.
Exam organization
January, June and, if necessary, August... three sessions to prove your mastery of the subjects.In January, you sit the exams covering the 1st term courses. If you fail, you can retake the exam in June and/or August. Three chances to pass, but only in the first bachelor year.From the second bachelor year onwards, any exam failed in the January or June session is automatically carried over to the August session.

The Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Unit (URPC)
The main mission of the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Unit (URPC) is to conduct studies and research aimed at evaluating the efficacy, safety and clinical impact of drugs, treatments and medical interventions. It brings together players from different departments of the Faculty of Medicine working on similar themes.

QUALIblood, a spin-off for the medicine of tomorrow
One of the major concerns with the disease caused by Covid-19 is its severe course, which causes many problems that can lead to hospital overload. Early detection of whether or not a person is at risk of developing a severe form of the disease is therefore crucial to optimise patient care and hospital resource management. This is one of the objectives of the study carried out by QUALIblood, a UNamur spin-off, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy and many other industrial and hospital partners. A new didactic pharmacy at the UNamur
Two researchers from the Department of Pharmacy initiated the project: Romain Siriez and Constant Gillot. Under the supervision of Professor Jean-Michel Dogné, they imagined creating a real pharmacy, which would be the ideal place to practice innovative pedagogy, essential for the training of master's students during specialized pharmacotherapy.

The Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management is 60 years old!
September 1961. A few professors and about fifteen students are entering the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Management at UNamur for the very first time. It was 60 years ago, in the house of Marmol, Rampart of the Virgin. Yves Poumay, researcher on skin pathologies
As the largest and heaviest organ in the human body, the skin is the focus of Professor Yves Poumay's research. For nearly 30 years, within the Cells and Tissues laboratory (LabCeTi), he has been developing in vitro epidermal models that reproduce skin pathologies to better understand and treat them. A pioneering approach that offers alternatives to animal experimentation! On the eve of an international congress devoted to dermatology research organised at UNamur (see below), he talks about the importance of melanoma screening and details the latest advances in dermatology made in his laboratory.
