Research
Research is centered on the Unité de Recherche en Sciences de l'Éducation et de la Formation (URSEF). It constitutes a dynamic gathering of researchers within the Faculty of Education and Training Sciences (FaSEF). These researchers, who are also affiliated to the UNamur Institute for Research in Didactics and Education (IRDENa), are dedicated to a multi- and trans-disciplinary exploration of educational phenomena. Their work encompasses a diversity of research objects, nourishing the quality of services and teachings.

The master's degree programme in biomedical sciences celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Organised for the first time in the academic year 2012-2013, this master's programme was created to respond to a shortage of biomedical experts in the fields of preclinical and clinical research. Today, students enrolling in these UNamur programmes benefit from a comprehensive, degree-granting and highly sought-after bachelor's and master's degree.

"It's not Rocket Science" winners announced
Collyne Hérion and Clara Havelange, students in their first year of pharmacy, brilliantly won the "It's not Rocket Science" competition organised by the UNamur Department of modern languages during the Spring Science Week. They succeeded on the theme of osmosis. As part of the English course, the students had to popularise a scientific concept by making a video, in the manner of Jamy and Fred in the French television programme "C'est pas sorcier". The idea behind the project was to have fun and offer a concrete approach to learning English. Interview.

"Daring to ask": the challenge for medical students to detect domestic violence
To raise the awareness of future doctors to the issue of domestic violence, particularly during pregnancy, which is a riskier situation: this is the programme of the next practical work on "professional communication in health" in the medical psychology course, taught to the UNamur 3rd year of bachelor’s degree in medicine students. This awareness-raising is done in the form of an escape game "Do you dare to ask the question", designed by two midwife teachers from the Hénallux paramedical department. This is a unique educational initiative and a first-time collaboration aimed at future doctors in Wallonia.

QUALIblood, a spin-off for the medicine of tomorrow
One of the major concerns with the disease caused by Covid-19 is its severe course, which causes many problems that can lead to hospital overload. Early detection of whether or not a person is at risk of developing a severe form of the disease is therefore crucial to optimise patient care and hospital resource management. This is one of the objectives of the study carried out by QUALIblood, a UNamur spin-off, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy and many other industrial and hospital partners. Exploration of a cutting-edge technology at the service of health.

A new didactic pharmacy at the UNamur
Two researchers from the Department of Pharmacy initiated the project: Romain Siriez and Constant Gillot. Under the supervision of Professor Jean-Michel Dogné, they imagined creating a real pharmacy, which would be the ideal place to practice innovative pedagogy, essential for the training of master's students during specialized pharmacotherapy.

Yves Poumay, researcher on skin pathologies
As the largest and heaviest organ in the human body, the skin is the focus of Professor Yves Poumay's research. For nearly 30 years, within the Cells and Tissues laboratory (LabCeTi), he has been developing in vitro epidermal models that reproduce skin pathologies to better understand and treat them. A pioneering approach that offers alternatives to animal experimentation! On the eve of an international congress devoted to dermatology research organised at UNamur (see below), he talks about the importance of melanoma screening and details the latest advances in dermatology made in his laboratory.
