The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) has just published a study in the prestigious journal Nature, listing and assessing the different values we place on nature. Nicolas Dendoncker, professor in the Department of Geography and member of the ILEE Institute at UNamur, is one of the co-authors.

An international group of researchers, including Professor Yoann Olivier from the NISM Institute at UNamur, has just published in the prestigious journal Nature. The subject: understanding the microscopic mechanisms that lead to the initialisation, reading and erasing of molecular qubits, a new theme in the study of materials, at the frontier between physics and chemistry.

A prestigious speaker of international renown, Prof. Brédas completed his doctoral thesis with Prof. Jean-Marie André at the University of Namur.

Over-indebtedness, addiction, homelessness, lack of access to rights, begging... Professionals in the health, education and social action sectors are directly confronted with social inequalities and precariousness. Their commitment requires them to work in an interdisciplinary way, to take a reflective look at their practices and to use relevant theoretical models. In response to this need, UNamur, HENALLUX, HEPN and UCLouvain, in collaboration with Formanam and Resinam, are organising a Certificate in Supporting Extreme Precariousness. A discussion with Christine Mahy, General Secretary of the Walloon Anti-Poverty Network (RWLP), was held to open up the debate on some of the key issues that will be addressed during this continuing education course.

On 20 June 2023, the F.R.S.-FNRS published the list of winners of the various doctoral and post-doctoral mandates. Among them, 16 researchers from UNamur obtained funding.

The European Euclid satellite will be launched into space from Cape Canaveral in the United States at 5.11pm on Saturday 1 July. The telescope is intended to provide a more accurate map of billions of galaxies over a distance of around twelve billion light years. A team of Belgian scientists and engineers from UCLouvain, ULB, ULg, UNamur and Ghent University, as well as the Space center in Liège (CSL), took part in this ten-year project, bringing together more than 3,500 people from 21 countries.
