For the second year running, students in the Block 1 English course were introduced to popularizing scientific concepts in the form of videos as part of the "It's not Rocket Science" project.

At the University of Namur, master's students in management engineering have the opportunity to follow an immersion course, taking part in three in-company internships. This is the path followed by Lhorie Pirnay. During her internships, she worked on improving "Hybrid Strategy Maps", a tool designed to help companies optimize their decisions. Backed by a network of influential sponsors, the former student, now a doctoral student, has just obtained the invaluable support of Win4SpinOff funding to develop her project. Ten years ago, UNamur created its technology platforms, where research equipment is grouped together for greater efficiency and visibility. Today, these nine platforms have acquired a considerable reputation, benefiting the University and its researchers as much as external companies.

They are 20 years old and are in BAC 3 Latin-French at the University of Namur. Since last November, they've been spreading the word via the Instagram and Facebook accounts they've created. Every week, they popularize Latin and try to raise awareness of this language that is too often described as "dead".

Context The University of Namur makes use of video surveillance cameras as part of the security of its infrastructure. The use of cameras involves the processing of personal data. With regard to the use of cameras in the context of parking lot control, reference is made to the notice relating to the management of parking facilities. Categories of personal data processed and purposes of use For the purposes of this activity, the University of Namur processes data in the following categories:Data related to the recording of video surveillance images[category grouping the following type of data: images and metadata of recordings, dates ...]Data related to controls [category grouping the following type of data: data relating to the circumstances of a control, dates, place, object, facts observed ...] These data are used to:Contribute to ensuring the security of university infrastructure as well as the protection of University property.Where necessary, to gather evidence of incivilities, facts constituting an offence or generating damage, to search for and identify the perpetrators, troublemakers, witnesses or victims. Basis for lawfulness of data processing The activity is carried out on the basis of a legitimate interest of the University (Article 6, 1, f) of the RGPD) which consists in being able to ensure the safety of goods and persons. This covers the possibility of enhancing security in certain parts of the University's infrastructure and the protection of its property. The law of March 21, 2007 regulating the installation and use of surveillance cameras also allows images to be recorded in order to gather evidence of incivilities, facts constituting an offence or generating damage, and to search for and identify the perpetrators of the facts, disrupters of public order, witnesses or victims. Characteristics of processing The retention period is determined according to the need to retain the data for operational purposes based on the purpose of its use.For some cameras, no image recording is organized.For cameras with associated image recording, data is kept for a period of 1 month from recording. At the end of this period, the data is deleted. Since 2022, the Faculty of Law has chosen an annual theme that brings together the entire faculty—students and faculty alike—across all tracks and programs.
