will take place from September 2 to 6, 2024 at the Gîte du domaine d'Haugimont (owned by the University of Namur) and will deal with medieval manuscripts in their material and historical aspects (parchment and ink manufacture). The event is aimed at historians, archaeologists and researchers in the physical and chemical sciences. Participation is free for doctoral students attached to FNRS doctoral schools in the disciplines concerned. At the crossroads of archaeology, history and the exact sciences, this colloquium-workshop will give the floor to three speakers (a physicist, a chemist and a historian) who will present the interdisciplinary research they are conducting together in this field. The NISM Institute's Multi-scale Modeling through High-Performance Computing (HPC-MM) cluster aims to share techniques, skills and computational tools to develop new materials and predict their final properties. It also aims to improve modeling techniques and computer codes to take into account most of the chemistry and physics of structured matter.

Research at NISM is identified by four poles, which highlight the main scientific activities carried out within the institute. Each pole has a well-defined structure with members, and is managed by the pole representative. The structuring does not prevent ongoing cooperation between them. Moved by a fundamental motivation to serve the community and make research results accessible, the Health, Social and Wellbeing Unit (SSBE) has today developed its activities around various human sciences, such as law, psychology, philosophy, economics, etc., and regularly collaborates with players in the so-called hard sciences (medicine, pharmacy, engineering...). Its research focus, like the constant concern for respect for the human person, lends itself more to a broader approach than just the legal framework.The researchers at SSBE examine how societal systems take into account, or fail to take into account, the various forms of vulnerability that can affect individuals or groups, on a one-off or permanent basis. The various norms and systems are thus analyzed in terms of their principles, practices, effectiveness, contradictions, players and developments, with a resolutely forward-looking objective and an important fundamental research dimension.SSBE has developed national and international expertise in the fields of social protection, welfare, psychosocial risks, mental health, equality and non-discrimination, and issues closely or remotely related to public health (patients' rights, aging, disability...), as well as in interdisciplinary research methodology.
