will take place from September 2 to 6, 2024 at the Gîte du domaine d'Haugimont (owned by the University of Namur) and will deal with medieval manuscripts in their material and historical aspects (parchment and ink manufacture). The event is aimed at historians, archaeologists and researchers in the physical and chemical sciences. Participation is free for doctoral students attached to FNRS doctoral schools in the disciplines concerned. At the crossroads of archaeology, history and the exact sciences, this colloquium-workshop will give the floor to three speakers (a physicist, a chemist and a historian) who will present the interdisciplinary research they are conducting together in this field. The wolf, long banished from our lands, has made a remarkable comeback in Wallonia since 2016. This mysterious being, now protected, arouses as much fascination as fear. Through an exhibition, held as part of the Cultural Project course, third-year history bachelor students have traced the history of the wolf. From April 11 to 27, 2024, the exhibition entitled "Même pas peur! Une évolution de l'image du loup à travers les siècles" invited audiences to plunge into the heart of a historical exploration.

The NISM Institute's Multi-scale Modeling through High-Performance Computing (HPC-MM) cluster aims to share techniques, skills and computational tools to develop new materials and predict their final properties. It also aims to improve modeling techniques and computer codes to take into account most of the chemistry and physics of structured matter.

Research at NISM is identified by four poles, which highlight the main scientific activities carried out within the institute. Each pole has a well-defined structure with members, and is managed by the pole representative. The structuring does not prevent ongoing cooperation between them. Indeed, there is well-established interaction between the various clusters, through joint projects, conferences, seminars, co-supervision of master's and doctoral theses, among others..

The Nonlinear Optics and Photonics cluster (NOP) develops experimental, theoretical and numerical research in various fields of optics, mainly in nonlinear optics and photonics, including plasmonics and quantum optics.

With oral and poster presentations by ILEE affiliates. Students and young researchers are particularly invited to present their research and practice their presentation skills in English. His long-term collaboration with Dr. Aniruddha Chatterjee recently resulted in the first collaborative framework agreement between the University of Otago and UNamur, as well as an international Erasmus+ (EU) credit mobility funding this scientific mission. Frédéric Silvestre deepened his understanding of the advanced DNA methylation techniques employed by Dr. Chatterjee's team, including their bioinformatics workflows and innovative approach to epigenetic editing. He has given several seminars presenting LEAP's research on mangrove rivulus and turquoise molefish. He also presented at the Australasian Epigenetic Alliance conference and had the opportunity to explore potential new collaborations with other departments, including zoology, sustainable development, chemistry and marine sciences.

Quentin Willot (Biology) has just joined URBE for a two-year post-doctoral position (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action, supervisor: Alice Dennis) on a project called ChillAnts. This project focuses on the study of adaptation to extreme temperatures in holarctic (trans-Beringian) ant species, from a physiological, ecological and evolutionary point of view. Quentin will present a more technical aspect of his work (Thermal Death Time Curve Modelling).

In 2025, two iconic Walloon products—Walloon honey and Liège white blood sausage—were awarded the prestigious European PGI designation. Behind this success lies the AgriLabel project, to which UNamur has been contributing for over a decade. Working alongside producers, specialists, and public institutions, our Department of History played a decisive role: demonstrating, through historical sources and scientific analysis, the close connection between these products and their local terroir. A project at the heart of economic, identity-related, cultural, and scientific issues.
