The Ten-years Most Influential Paper award has just been presented to three members of UNamur's Faculty of Computer Science: Xavier Devroey, Gilles Perrouin and Maxime Cordy. The award recognizes the paper published ten years previously that has had the greatest impact on the research community. The University of Namur is involved in the European CERTAINTY project, an initiative led by the German Fraunhofer Institute to explore new avenues in cancer treatment. Launched in December 2023, this European consortium is funded by the European Union - Horizon Europe program - to the tune of almost 10 million euros over the next 4.5 years.

The annual conference of Trail, the structure that brings together all artificial intelligence researchers in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, and entitled "Inclusion, Parcimony and Plurality: the Future of AI?", was held at UNamur on May 14. 150 participants came to listen to a particularly rich and varied program.

A bilingual French-sign language dictionary (LSFB), which can be queried in both languages, thanks to cutting-edge technology (facial recognition) and access to a vast database compiling more than 4,500 signs, words and expressions.

These are the questions that Michel Ajzen, a specialist in organizational management, is tackling as part of his teaching assignments in the Department of Management Sciences at UNamur. His research focuses on hybrid work and organizational innovation, with a transdisciplinary approach aimed at reinventing managerial practices to meet contemporary challenges.

Floriane Goosse, a PhD student at the University of Namur, within the NaDI-CeRCLe research center, has received the prestigious "Best Research Paper Award" for her thesis paper conducted in collaboration with Wafa Hammedi, professor in the Department of Management at UNamur, and Dominik Mahr, from Maastricht University.

NADI offers extensive expertise in artificial intelligence: bio-inspired robotics, robust, interactive, interpretable and safe machine learning, automatic program verification, declarative programming, business intelligence, knowledge representation and automatic software testing. This has already led to numerous collaborations with medical experts, industry and civil society. Along with other areas of expertise at NADI, AI experts are also exploring the educational, ethical, societal and legal implications of AI.

The collaborative economy refers to marketplaces that provide access to goods, services or skills through peer-to-peer exchanges. NADI explores the economic, technological and societal/environmental impacts of these exchanges.

Innovation has become increasingly complex. Developing appropriate solutions to our society's growing challenges requires exploring uncommon sources of solutions and combining the efforts of different stakeholders, including citizens or consumers. Co-innovation and co-creation analyze the methods, tools and governance that foster these participatory and collaborative approaches.

The digital revolution has largely contributed to the development of security and surveillance technologies. While they have sometimes been invented for security purposes, they are not without their questions, particularly when it comes to privacy protection.
