Edited by two professors from UNamur, this anthology brings together the work of 18 researchers focusing on some 50 rare books, selected from among the more than 900 editions by Christophe Plantin held by the University. Supported by the Institut Moretus Plantin Public Benefit Foundation, this project marks the first step leading up to the launch, in September, of a new research initiative on multilingualism and translation practices in the editions of the Antwerp printer.

The days when people chose a career once and for all and when experience alone was enough to climb the career ladder seem to be over. Nowadays, lifelong learning has almost become the norm. “There is clearly a trend in this direction, particularly in the context of automation and artificial intelligence, which makes acquiring new skills all the more important,” says Michel Ajzen, a professor in the Management Department at the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Communication at SciencePo, UNamur, and a member of the Namur Digital Institute. “And it’s not a generational issue: whether you’re 30, 40, or 50, this need exists.”

Stanford University has published a prestigious ranking that highlights the most influential researchers in a wide range of scientific fields. The list, based on bibliographic criteria, aims to provide a standardized means of identifying the world's scientific leaders. It is one criterion among others for assessing the quality of scientific research. Twelve researchers from the University of Namur are among them!

They are future veterinarians, doctors, lawyers, historians, geographers, or even computer scientists, and they share this common point: the concern to train themselves, voluntarily, in the challenges of sustainable development and transition. Since October 2024, 25 mainly 3rd-year students from various UNamur faculties have been taking part in a pilot experiment: the Journées de l'Education au Développement Durable et à la Transition (JEDDT). This Monday, March 17, they presented in a creative form, the fruit of their reflection after 6 months of training.

A delegation from the Université de Namur took part in an exploratory mission to the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. The aim: to discover the research carried out in the field, meet UCAD researchers and initiate future collaborations between the two institutions.

Law students at UNamur, Marilyn Emmerechts and Delphine Blomme are part of the MUN Society Belgium (MSB), an organization that offers debate simulations in UN committees. In March, their team travelled to Manila, Philippines, to compete in the World Student Diplomacy Championships, organized by Harvard University. Critical thinking, the art of productive doubt, can be learned and cultivated. Faced with information overload and the spread of artificial intelligence, it is more important than ever for students to develop this skill throughout their studies. At UNamur, this educational necessity takes many forms. 

Trust of traditional political institutions and elected representatives, rise of authoritarian logics, definition of public services... Democracy today seems to be going through a turbulent zone. What role does the university play in this context? To shed light on this question, we interviewed four researchers from different disciplines: educationalist Sephora Boucenna, philosopher Louis Carré, political scientist Vincent Jacquet and legal scholar Aline Nardi. Their contrasting views sketch out the contours of an issue that is more topical than ever: thinking about and defending the link between university and democracy.

The Namur Digital Institute (NaDI) is launching a series of original events: "Les Séances du Numérique". Films followed by debates with experts to understand digital challenges and stimulate collective thinking. Conceived and produced by four UNamur students and coordinated by the University Community Life Service (VéCU), this project offers an inspiring showcase for the careers, voices, and commitments of these women who bring the institution to life on a daily basis.
