The main mission of the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Unit (URPC) is to conduct studies and research aimed at evaluating the efficacy, safety and clinical impact of drugs, treatments and medical interventions. It brings together players from different departments of the Faculty of Medicine working on similar themes.

5 years of the Observatoire Antoine Thomas s.j.
Depuis son inauguration en 2019, l’observatoire astronomique de l’UNamur a déployé un programme pédagogique et de médiation scientifique ouvert à toutes et à tous, avec l’ambition de faire découvrir les sciences par le prisme de l’observation des merveilles du ciel. 5 ans plus tard, le pari est réussi ! La petite équipe qui anime les lieux multiplie les collaborations et les activités proposées aux étudiantes et aux étudiants, aux écoles et au grand public. Cet automne, l’Observatoire astronomique célébrera l’empreinte durable qu’il a construite dans les yeux et les cœurs de son public en fêtant son 5e anniversaire. Une occasion de rassembler la communauté qui s’est développée autour de ses projets passés, présents et futurs !

New training courses and pedagogical innovations in 2024 at UNamur
Two new Master's degree specializations are on offer from the start of the new academic year. One will provide training in general medicine, the other in the management and economics of sustainable development. Other pedagogical innovations in existing course programs are also proposed, including a course designed to train block students in the challenges of Artificial Intelligence and develop their critical thinking skills to use AI in a relevant way. Through these innovations and new features, UNamur is demonstrating its ability to constantly adapt its educational offering in response to changes in society.

Alison Forrester and Xavier De Bolle awarded grants from the latest FRFS-Welbio call for projects
Understanding and combating abnormal protein secretion and combating the envelope of pathogenic bacteria: these are the two focuses of two new UNamur projects selected as part of the 7th FRFS-Welbio call for projects. Among the 22 applications selected, Alison Forrester, a qualified FNRS researcher, has been awarded a Starting Grant and Xavier De Bolle, Professor, has been awarded an Advanced Grant. They are both WEL Research Institute Investigators and members of the Namur Research Institute for Life Sciences (NARILIS).

The Summer School in Molecular Bacteriology: an innovative international experience to open up to research thanks to BIP
The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) is an innovative course format promoted and financed by Erasmus+ funds to promote international mobility and pedagogical innovation. This type of program, combining a virtual component with short-term physical mobility (minimum 5 days), enables teachers and students to explore new teaching and learning methods while gaining international experience. At the University of Namur, the Summer School in Molecular Microbiology, organized from July 1 to 5, 2024, in the form of a BIP, is a successful example.

Flood prevention: an innovative teaching activity for geography students
How does a river work? How do river overflows occur? What can be done to protect our territories from these risks? At UNamur, geography students followed an innovative teaching activity, using a 3D augmented reality sandbox, to learn about this issue. What are the aims of this tool? Simulate and analyze natural phenomena. A unique and immersive experience to better understand environmental dynamics and climate risks, carried out in collaboration with the non-profit organization Contrat de Rivière Ourthe.
