Established about ten years ago within the UNamur School of Law, the Center for Vulnerabilities and Societies (V&S) has established itself as a hub for research and critical reflection on contemporary situations of vulnerability. Born from the merger of two existing centers (PROJUCIT and Fundamental Rights and Social Cohesion), it has gradually organized itself around a clear objective: to analyze how the law addresses the realities experienced by people affected by poverty, precariousness, and discrimination, or whose fundamental rights are at risk of being compromised.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, His Majesty the King visited UNamur. In collaboration with Henallux and IMEP, students from the Faculty of Education (FaSEF) led several interactive workshops focused on key issues in education. On the agenda: discussions with His Majesty the King on topics such as inclusion, the diversification of learning, the development of critical thinking in the age of artificial intelligence, challenges facing the education sector, and sustainable development.

What if, starting in high school, students could contribute to real scientific research? That is the goal of the “student-researcher” program, launched at UNamur more than fifteen years ago. Donaciene Quoirin and Lisa Salmon, law students, have experienced it firsthand. Their stories.

In May 2025, the Department of Physics welcomed two special visitors: Serge Mathot and François Briard from Namur, both alumni of UNamur and members of CERN. Several activities were on the program, ranging from a visit to the particle accelerator, to science popularization and thematic seminars, particularly in heritage sciences. The aim? To identify areas or activities in which UNamur and CERN could strengthen their collaboration.

Stanford University has published a prestigious ranking that highlights the most influential researchers in a wide range of scientific fields. The list, based on bibliographic criteria, aims to provide a standardized means of identifying the world's scientific leaders. It is one criterion among others for assessing the quality of scientific research. Twelve researchers from the University of Namur are among them!

Animated by a desire to help the most disadvantaged, Father Pedro Opeka, a Lazarist priest, devotes his life to improving the living conditions of Madagascar's marginalized populations. His strong humanitarian commitment has resulted in the creation of Akamasoa, an association that provides shelter, education and healthcare to thousands of Malagasy people. By transforming the lives of an entire community in this way, he has become a symbol of hope in a country beset by poverty.

The University of Namur is soon to offer two inaugural lessons for two Francqui Chairs, one in the Faculty of Science and the other in the Faculty of Law. Open to all, the inaugural lectures will be followed by a local drink. These events are free, upon registration.
