How do I find a book or magazine? In the catalogueTo search the catalog, you must be in possession of bibliographic references. Beforehand you must perform a search by subject/matter in the legal databases available at the library (Jura, Strada lex, Jurisquare). Demonstration in pictures 1°) Enter one or more terms (title word, author,...) in the search bar of the Catalogue of the libraries of the University of Namur. Feel free to use quotation marks for less noise.2°) You get a list of results sorted by relevance. These can then be filtered using facets. If you select several values within a facet, the "OR" operator is applied EXCEPT for the "Author" and "Subject" facets, which apply the "AND" operator to refine the search.Select only physical resources or online resourcesDocument types: sort by number of occurrences.Book, text encompasses both books in paper and electronic format.Periodical encompasses both journals in paper and electronic format.Electronic resourceincludes only electronic referencesOther types of documents available: memoir, comic strip, video, thesis, maps and atlases, score, sound document, editorial collection, article, object...Please note, Open Access references in the UCL Institutional Directory are also included in the catalog>adding new document types: conference paper, working paper, contribution to a collective work, report, preprint, patent...Author: authors are classified by number of occurrences with a limit of 50.Library:"UNamur-Droit": includes all documents available at the CRIDS law library and documentation center. The detailed view contains information under different tabs:Obtain:Displays library copies with location, shelfmark, copy category (borrowable, non-borrowable, to consult on site) and status (available, return expected on+date, on order, out of inventory,...).Description: Contains detailed bibliographic information about the document.Notes1°) This new system is under development and certain functionalities will be added progressively (export of a list of results, facet by year,....)2°) Be attentive to the location, this must start with UNamur-Droit (Bibliothèque/CRIDS/VS), otherwise the work is available in another campus library.3°) For journals, you can also consult the alphabetical list of journals.4°) A mention of availability accompanied by a "Green" or "Red" colored dot appears in the list of results.Available + Green lozenge means that the work is on the shelves and appears both on borrowable, non-borrowable, for on-site consultation and for electronic resources.Not available + Red dot: appears for borrowed works, works on order, missing from inventory, binding and cataloguing.Beware, "Not available" also appears on some periodical records. This is a malfunction. Periodicals cannot be borrowed and are therefore always available for consultation.5°) Other mentions visible on the detailed screen of a record:A consultation sur place means that the work is not in direct access and must be requested at the reception desk.Lending not authorized means that the work must be consulted in the library.On order means that the work has been ordered and has not yet been received.Missing inventory means that the work has disappeared.On-lineAt the bindery means that the work is momentarily unavailable following repair by a bookbinder. In the libraryMost books in the law library are available for direct access, with the exception of those at the counter. The latter are marked "Réserve" at the shelf mark and have "A consultation sur place". Reserve structures The current year's magazines are arranged on the display racks in alphabetical order by title. The latest issue is fronted. To consult the other issues of the current year, simply lift the inclined board! Previous years are arranged in the different sections of the library.Maps of the different sections are available under document location. How do I find an electronic magazine? Two possibilities:either by consulting the alphabetical list of journals available at the Law Library, last column "Online access".or by searching the computerized catalog of the libraries of the University of Namur. Consultation Direct accessAnyone with a reader's card can consult books and journals in the reading room. The majority of documents are available for direct access, and two photocopiers are also available to readers.Books on reserveAbout 450 books are stored at the reception desk and are only available for consultation. The shelf mark of these documents ends with the term "Reserve". To consult them, you must present yourself at the counter with your reader's card and the reference (call number and title).To help you locate the documents, we invite you to consult the "Location of documents" section. Borrowing Students and people from outside the Faculty of Law can borrow three books maximum for an evening or weekend. The loan is renewable once, at the Library reception desk or by telephone. Failure to return a book within the required time will result in the payment of a fine of €0.5 per working day and per book. The loan of books is suspended until all fines have been paid. In the event of a repeat offence, the right to borrow is suspended until the end of the current academic year.Staff members of the Faculty of Law may borrow an unlimited number of books for a period of two months. The Library nevertheless reserves the right to request the return of borrowed books at any time. Failure to return a work within the required time limit will result in suspension of borrowing rights.Law Faculty staff members may nevertheless borrow a maximum of one work from the counter reserve, for a limited period of two days.Certain documents may not be borrowed:PeriodicalsDocuments with a green stickerEncylopedias, dictionaries, codes, loose-leaf worksReserve works (red sticker)Borrowers are personally responsible for the works they borrow.
