For the past two years, UNamur has been a full member of the European UNIVERSEH Alliance; this affiliation marks an important milestone in the university’s international outreach. This anniversary is an opportunity to recall the alliance’s ambitions, to highlight UNamur’s active participation in various projects, and to underscore the concrete benefits that this collaboration brings to our institution and to its entire academic community. 

The U-BPM (User-oriented Business Process Management) project explores how artificial intelligence can serve as a bridge between different business functions within a company. This process-management-focused approach is led by Malik Schinckus as part of the Win4doc program, a doctoral thesis funded by SPW Research. In collaboration with UNamur and the consulting firm Daïmo, Malik Schinckus brings theory and practice together to improve collaboration, performance, and reflection on everyday practices in the business world. 

In 2025, two iconic Walloon products—Walloon honey and Liège white blood sausage—were awarded the prestigious European PGI designation. Behind this success lies the AgriLabel project, to which UNamur has been contributing for over a decade. Working alongside producers, specialists, and public institutions, our Department of History played a decisive role: demonstrating, through historical sources and scientific analysis, the close connection between these products and their local terroir. A project at the heart of economic, identity-related, cultural, and scientific issues.

On Thursday, March 12, students from the Master’s program in General Medicine and the Master’s program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UNamur, as well as students from the Master’s program in Nursing at Henallux, gathered to test “Eugène’s Journey,” an immersive game created as part of the PUNCh (Namur University Pedagogy in Transition) project. This educational game was designed to strengthen communication and collaboration among future healthcare professionals. Following the gameplay phase, a structured debriefing was conducted with the students to transform the experience into a collective learning opportunity.

For a week, the University of Namur introduced science and technology to a wide audience through events for schools, activities for the general public, and two flagship conferences. The highlight was a visit by Raphaël Liégeois, an astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), as part of the Spring of Science.

At the 5th CRef-VLIR Forum in Brussels, the ten Belgian universities deepened their collaboration on a range of key issues. University presidents and vice presidents from across the country discussed ways to preserve and strengthen the appeal and resilience of universities, as well as their contribution to society, in a rapidly changing context. Held at the University Foundation, the forum once again highlighted the importance of structural collaboration between the Flemish and French-speaking academic communities.

New Christian churches are experiencing spectacular growth, particularly in Africa. While they are attracting a growing number of followers, it is notable that women are joining them far more often than men. Catherine Guirkinger, a professor and researcher in development economics, examines this gendered phenomenon of religious conversion and the economic mechanisms underlying it. This original research has just received prestigious WelCHANGE funding through the 2025 call for proposals from the F.R.S-FNRS. 

In 2021, five projects were selected as part of the "Campus Namur Durable" (CANDLE 2021) call for projects. Projects led by UNamur staff and/or students and financed by the Fonds Jérôme. Among them, the May'AGE project.

The NaDI-CeRCLe research center has distinguished itself brilliantly on the international scene in recent weeks. Three young researchers from the EMCP Faculty have received prestigious recognition at leading international events for their research in service management: they are Floriane Goosse, Victor Sluÿters and Florence Nizette. At the helm: the French company Histovery, specializing in heritage reconstructions, with scientific support from Axel Tixhon, professor in the History Department at UNamur.
