The FWB/CoARA project, launched in April 2024, brings together Belgium's five French-speaking universities to develop tools and procedures for assessing and recognizing research in line with the principles of the CoARA Charter, signed by the institutions between September 2022 and October 2023. The aim of this event is to highlight the fruits of this collective effort and share them with research stakeholders.

The day will be divided into two main parts: the first, in French, will present the initial results of the project and its main deliverable - the inter-university platform linked to the Cref website; the second will feature a series of workshops and high-level conferences on the themes developed by the project, namely research evaluation, Open Science, ethics, scientific integrity and support for researchers.

Everything You Want to Know About Data Management Plans but Are Too Afraid to Ask

Data Management Plans (DMPs) are often seen as just another administrative burden, but what do they really entail? Do they have a use beside meeting funders requirement, are they worth the effort? In this interactive workshop, we will discuss their added value for research. Through practical examples and open discussions, we will explore their role in preventing data disasters, avoiding surprise costs, improving research efficiency, ethics and reproducibility. Whether you are new to DMPs or already familiar with them, join us to share experiences and ask all your burning questions!

Recruiting Talents: The added value of the PhD for employers – ORCS

Based on the findings from “The Future of PhD Holders” and “Recruiting Talent: The Added Value of a PhD According to Employers” surveys, the Observatory for Research and Scientific Careers invites you to take part in an interactive workshop exploring the realities of the non-academic job market. You will be invited to identify the skills you should highlight or develop, reflect on the sectors that best match your goals, taking into account different criteria such as working conditions, salary, and quality of life, and spot existing professional opportunities. By combining discussions, personal reflection, and data on post-PhD career paths, this workshop aims to provide insights to help you navigate your professional transition after completing your doctorate.

Integrity Circuit: from Chatbot to Solutions

This workshop proposes a participative exploration of concrete situations that researchers may encounter in their daily practice. Participants will be invited to express their views via an interactive device, and then to react to the trends that emerge from the group's responses. The workshop will also feature a chatbot designed to help researchers identify, understand and anticipate the issues involved in their research practices.

An interactive session to reflect together on what it means to conduct research with integrity on a daily basis.

Meet your Ethics Committee!

Reforming research assessment: evolution or revolution?

The call for reforming research assessment practices has been growing in recent years, driven by initiatives such as the CoARA coalition. During this focus group-style workshop, we will be giving the floor to some of those involved in evaluation, the evaluators. With diverse research backgrounds and diverse expertise in evaluation, they will share their views and experiences on reform related themes. These discussions will not only highlight the current situation of our FWB institutions but will also continue to pave the way for discussing the challenges associated with the reform.
