Learning outcomes

The main trends of geochemical and mineralogical contents of the rocks are described. The interactions between geochemistry, mineralogy and petrography are highlighted.

Goals

Analyse, understand and discuss the main geochemical and mineralogical contents of the rocks.

Content

Describe/understand the formation of the rocks using geochemical and mineralogical tools.

Table of contents

Introduction.

Chapter 1. Complements of cristallography.

Chapter 2. Complements of radiocristallography.

Chapter 3. Geochimistry (including geochronology).

Chapter 4. Descriptive mineralogy (focus on phyllosilicates et zeolites)

Exercices

Analytical methods, presentation of the results and discussion of main interpretations

Teaching methods

Theory + practical works

Assessment method

The evaluation will be a comprehensive written exam combining theoretical and practical questions. The exam will aim to test both the fundamental concepts covered during the theoretical course and their applications in practical situations (problem solving, case analysis, data interpretation, etc.).
