Postdoctoral position in organometallic chemistry (beginning February 2024)

University of Namur - Chemistry Department

Laboratory of organic reactivity and catalysis

(Group of Prof. Berionni - www.unamur.be/sciences/chimie/rco)

Context

In the framework of the research project BatFactory (Belgian ERDF research program in Wallonia), a two years post-doctoral position is available in our group in the field of organometallic synthesis oriented toward lithium ions salts for battery electrolytes.

Job description

This post-doctoral research program will start by the collaborative computer-guided development of new lithium borate salts followed by their synthesis in large scale. Improving the electrolyte performances via fundamental structure/properties investigations is the main objective of this work. The newly synthesized lithium borate salts will be employed for preparing electrolytes which will be tested in real lithium ions batteries. Part of the post-doctoral research will be done in collaboration with Prof. Yoan Olivier and Prof. Bao-Lian Su research groups at the chemistry department.

The successful candidate will be strongly involved in organometallic synthesis, electrolytes preparations, and characterizations by NMR spectrometry and electrochemistry.

Profile / Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a highly talented and motivated researcher who received his PhD in organometallic or electrosynthesis less than two years ago. Very good knowledge and excellent experimental skills in preparative purification techniques and structural characterization of organometallic molecules (NMR, GC-MS, IR, UV-Vis) is expected. Excellent communication ability in English (written and oral). She/He should be autonomous, motivated for fundamental research, and with team spirit.

Additional informations

You will work in Namur, a historic, dynamic and lively city, located in the heart of Belgium, at 30 minutes of Brussels, the capital of the European Union. During this postdoc of one year, you will perform your research at the University of Namur, in the organic chemistry division, part of the Namur Institute of Structured Matter (https://nism.unamur.be).

You should have been awarded your PhD not more than two years ago and be in an “international mobility situation”, meaning that you should not have resided or carried out your main activity (job, studies...) in Belgium for more than 24 months prior to January 2024.

You will be awarded a monthly fellowship amounting ~ € 2350 after tax withdrawal. Soon to be graduating PhD students are welcome to apply provided that they will have graduated before the start of the position. The recruitment procedure of new researchers ensures compliance with the gender balance and non-discrimination principles of the University of Namur. To apply please send a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae, a two pages summary of your PhD work and the name and e-mail addresses of three reference persons by e-mail to Prof. Guillaume Berionni (guillaume.berionni[@]unamur.be) until January 15th 2024.
