The Laboratory of Adaptive Evolution and Genomics (LEAG) is directed by Professor Alice Dennis. It is one of 4 laboratories belonging to the Environmental and Evolutionary Biology Research Unit (URBE) within the Biology Department. LEAG is also a member of the Institute of Life, Earth and Environment (ILEE).

Research is focused on the genomic basis of adaptive variation. It is studied by comparing genetic and physiological variation between populations and species. This includes differences in temperature tolerance (especially to frost!), response to multiple stress factors, and between parasitoids and their hosts.

En 2021, l’Union européenne s’est lancée dans un chantier titanesque : sauvegarder le génome de toutes les espèces eucaryotes en Europe. Soit l’ensemble du vivant, à l’exception des bactéries et des archées (micro-organismes). Dénommé ERGA, pour European Reference Genome Atlas, et auquel participe l’UNamur grâce à la professeure Alice Dennis, ce projet espère ainsi participer à la sauvegarde de la biodiversité, alors même qu’un cinquième des espèces européennes sont en danger d'extinction.
