Cost of Living

The cost of living for a student staying in the French Community of Belgium is approximately 600 to 700 €per month.

Some examples of price:

  • Monthly university accommodation on campus costs on average 270 € (+ utilities) and a room in the private sector ranges from 280 € to 340 € (+ utilities).
  • Train ticket (Brussels - Namur) : 8 €
  • Eating out downtown Namur : 15 € per meal
  • University canteen: 4€-5 €
  • Bread - 800 gr. : 2,2 €
  • 1,5 liters of water : 0,50 €
  • 1 liter of milk : 0,95 €
  • 1 chocolate bar (45gr)  : 0,80 €
  • Sandwich : 1,80 € - 3,5 €
  • Cinema ticket : 7 €
  • Glass of beer (pub/bar): 1,5 € - 4 €

 

Registering with the City of Namur

Exchange students who are staying in Belgium for a period longer than 3 months need to register at the city hall and are advised to carefully read the information provided on the city's website:

- Student of a member country of the EU

Bring the following documents 

  • National ID card or valid passport
  • Certificate of registration of the UNamur.
  • Certificate of coverage or certificate of grant .
  • European card of health insurance.
  • Birth certificate.
  • 4 recent passport photos + 15€

 

- Student Non EU

Bring the following documents :

 

  • Passport with the visa D
  • Certificate of coverage or certificate of grant.
  • Extract of birth certificate and registry file
  • Birth certificate.
  • 4 recent passport photos € 15
