The sources of technology transfers are generally, but not systematically, the results of applied research. Indeed, fundamental research may also lead to technology transfers and the TTO aims at raising the awareness of researchers to the multiple aspects of technology transfer

what is transferable ?

  • research results after analysis of their potential applications and the choice of a strategy : patent application, Trademark, product manufacturing, Spin-off creation…;
  • Know-How and remarkable equipments in order to generate additional revenues for the laboratory

Protection of Intellectual Property (IP)

The protection of Intellectual Property is often a necessary step in the exploitation of results from innovative research programs. Not only are patents economical assets but also tools in negotiation and technological watches. Their obtaining is facilitated by grants from the Walloon Region to cover prosecution costs.

Spin-off creation

When appropriate, transferable research results may lead to the creation of a new company, or spin-off. In this case, the Technology Transfer Office offers it services in terms of legal support, transfer of technology or know-how to the new company, licensing, business plan preparation, identification of financial partners, market analysis and commercial strategy…
