The 2026 edition of the QS Sustainability Rankings, which evaluates universities worldwide based on their actions and results in the areas of environmental sustainability, social engagement, and governance, confirms the positive momentum of the University of Namur. For the third consecutive year, UNamur has been included in this international ranking and stands out for its significant improvement across all analyzed indicators.

This year, UNamur ranks 640th out of 2,001 institutions. The university has made particularly remarkable progress in areas related to well-being, health, equality, and environmental research, where it ranks 330th globally, placing it among the top 20% of universities.

While progress is more modest in the areas of environmental education, environmental impact, and the impact of education, it is nonetheless significant. Nationally, UNamur ranks eighth out of ten among the Belgian universities evaluated, which also represents an improvement compared to its first participation.

“These encouraging results reflect the collective commitment of the entire university community: scientists, academics, administrative and technical staff, and students. Through their projects and initiatives, everyone contributes to strengthening the institution’s societal and environmental impact for the benefit of all,” emphasize Annick Castiaux, Rector of UNamur, and Amélie Lachapelle, Project Manager for “Transitions & Sustainable Development.”
