General rules

When you see a doctor, the cost of the examination may be covered by your health insurance.

For all appointments at the doctor’s, or if your doctor comes to your home, or for appointments with a specialist, your receive a document such as this:

No other document is valid to obtain reimbursement at your Mutuelle (Health InsuranceOffice).

Note that the colour can differ, without having any incidence on its validity.

Currently, some general practitioners send this certificate directly to the mutual insurance company via an online platform. In this case, you no longer have to bring this document to your mutual insurance company.

Members of a “mutuelle” health insurance system in Belgium have to take this voucher to the mutuelle office to get reimbursed. Amounts vary depending on the type of exam (70% for a check-up with a General Physician).

Members of other health insurance systems have to send the voucher to the insurance company to be reimbursed. See conditions in the insurance or grant contract.
