The student will be able to approach and conduct general practice consultations and home visits focusing on the healthcare needs of children and adolescents; to structure patients’ health data in relation to the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs); to apply effective interdisciplinary communication in compliance with legal requirements, cybersecurity principles, and the INAMI framework; and to identify good practices relating to the GDPR and apply them in clinical practice.
This course unit is divided into two learning activities. The first learning activity aims to enhance students’ knowledge and its integration into clinical practice, with a focus on preventive healthcare for children and adolescents and the main conditions encountered in this age group, taking into account the epidemiology of health issues commonly seen in general practice. The second learning activity aims to identify the key elements involved in structuring health data, explain their relevance, and implement their practical use through hands-on exercises using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). A specific module is also dedicated to the definition of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the principles governing its application.
This course unit consists of two learning activities. The first learning activity focuses on the health of children and adolescents. The second learning activity focuses on the structuring of health data and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Teaching is based on active, collaborative and experiential learning methods, combining expert-led sessions with practical and interactive exercises. It is jointly delivered by general practice faculty members and a range of invited experts.
Active attendance at all sessions is mandatory and will be assessed by the teaching staff. This assessment will form an integral part of the final grade. In addition, the two learning activities will be assessed through a written examination consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and open-ended questions, conducted remotely and on an open-book basis at the end of Q1. The two learning activities in this course unit are weighted equally, each accounting for 50% of the final grade.
